The creation of the mouse

The mouse was created by Douglas Engelbart in 1963 while working at the Stanford Research Institute. He wanted to find a more intuitive way to interact with the computer instead of typing commands on a keyboard.

The device consisted of a wooden box with wheels on the bottom that allowed it to move on a flat surface. A cable connected the mouse to the computer and a button on top allowed the user to send commands.
