TikTok has started testing yet another feature to compete with Instagram. Now, the short video platform is also bringing its own stories to some users in the US and UK. The Chinese app, however, has yet to reveal a possible official release date for the tool.
Some users started to notice a new warning window when opening the app, explaining the addition of the new stories feature and encouraging them to test the new feature. In practice, everything works in a very similar way to taking a photo or recording a video with the standard TikTok feature. Thus, you have at your disposal the same image editing tools, visual effects, filters and sounds.
The biggest difference between the new feature and a conventional post in the app is that this content will only be 24 hours long and will not be posted directly to your profile or appear in the feed.
In a statement shared with TechCrunch, TikTok stated that it is “expanding a pilot test that provides creators with additional formats to bring their creative ideas to life for the TikTok community.” However, the company did not say how many users have already received the new tool and are participating in the current testing phase.
