Since the introduction of the E-JS1 (the cheapest electric car in Brazil at the time), JAC has not hidden from anyone that the compact was developed almost exclusively for urban use. So the adventurous version of him, surnamed EXT, should follow suit, right? incorrect.
This model is basically the same as the E-JS1 we’ve already tested here, with some interesting differences. The main thing is the suspension, which gets higher after changing the shock absorbers. New wheels and decorative side moldings also point unmistakably to a differentiated version.

Connectivity and Security
Just like the traditional E-JS1 model, the EXT version offers owners a good technical package. The main highlight is the 10.25-inch multimedia center, as well as the digital cluster with full access to the car’s main information.
Multimedia requires users to download a specific application (Easy Link) to mirror the phone’s screen to the media center. It doesn’t offer pairing with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, but it can pair with your smartphone via Bluetooth without mirroring.

The E-JS1 EXT still leaves the factory with digital air conditioning, rear parking sensors, reversing camera, automatic hold function, electronic parking brake, automatic transmission with paddle shift on the steering wheel, keyless system, key, two 12 volt sockets. , two airbags, traction and stability control and even an induction phone charger.
Comfort and user experience
Just outside the dealership where we went to get the car, in Gastão Vidigal near Rodovia dos Bandeirantes, the first sign that living with the “brave rose” would be very curious. An application delivery man passed by the report, expressing interest in knowing the range, performance and price of the electric compact.
As we’ve seen in our days of owning this car, it’s even more gritty than the entry-level E-JS1. The suspension was increased by 50mm with new dampers, and the new wheels were made with 175/70 mixed-use tires, giving the car (and journalists) the “guts” to finally tackle the missing road. “Chinese Adventurer”.

Driving on Rodovia dos Bandeirantes with a speed limit of 120 km/h is a fun challenge. After all, the E-JS1 EXT’s speed is electronically limited to 110 km/h. The 62 hp engine with 15.2 kgfm of torque isn’t strong enough to keep up. In pure simple math, this means that the report has to be walking “in good shape”, that is, in the two lanes on the right, accompanied by trucks, buses, motorcycles and some drivers who are not very anxious to reach their destination. destiny.
Precisely for this limitation, in addition to a maximum range of 302 km, more “faithful” in urban areas and easier to recover energy through braking, the E-JS1 EXT was designed for the city. But he is brave. It overcame the challenge from São Paulo to Jundiaí without incident, and the 30.2 kWh battery arrived at its destination with just over 50% charge remaining.
Design and Finishing
Design and finish are the strengths of the JAC E-JS1 EXT. The Adventure Edition of the Chinese compact, in addition to all the appeal of the regular variant, has features that characterize it as part of a differentiated series.
Externally, the look of the tested version and especially its color (metallic powder) is a spectacle in itself, guaranteed to open your eyes wherever you go. The exterior design also has a longitudinal bar on the roof (missing from the unit borrowed from Canaltech) and side stickers showing it is an EXT version.
In terms of interior, although the JAC E-JS1 EXT is minimalist, its resolution is very good, just like its “brother”, there is no adventurous spirit. Although there is not much space for “junk”, as the glove box is small and has no lid, everything is fine, from the comfortable seats to the dashboard and accessories like the multifunctional steering wheel with gearshift, Mercedes style. , to the inductive telephone charger located in the center console.
competitors
The competitors of the JAC E-JS1 EXT are basically the same as the regular version. That means it competes for a place in the market with cars like the Renault Zoe and Fiat 500e.
The French model has an advantage in terms of range, with a range of 385 kilometers on a single charge, while the Italian model has its advantages in terms of safety packages (a Chinese flaw, by the way). However, both are (much) more expensive than the JAC model.
Currently, the Renault Zoe is priced below R$ 239,990. The 2022 version of the Fiat 500e, in turn, starts at R$255,990.
